Mission

The University of Nebraska at Omaha's Gender and Sexual Orientation Student Agency promotes, advocates, and educates according to the belief that each person and community possesses inherent value and deserves to enjoy the basic tenets of safety, respect, dignity, and equality, regardless of one's sexual orientation or gender identity and expression. In accordance with these fundamental beliefs, this agency seeks to assure the mutual acceptance and understanding of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersexed, Questioning, Allied, as well as Heterosexual individuals, and offers its support, services, and educational resources on behalf of the institution's student, faculty, and staff populations.


Vision

This agency will promote student's civic engagement on an institutional and national level, in a collective effort to advocate all forms of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersexed, Questioning, and Heterosexual equality.

This agency will provide quality services to campus students, staff, faculty, organizations, agents, and visitors while continually anticipating and responding to their changing needs.

This agency will positively affect the University and community climates and quality of lives through thoughtful and educational programs, which inspire productive dialogue.

This agency will provide programming and events which celebrate diverse sexual orientations and gender identities/expressions.

This agency will continue to advocate for the unconditional inclusion of gender identity/expression within this and all of the University system's anti-discrimination policies.

This agency will engage in the sharing of best-practices with the nation's collegiate and professional institutions to identify the most appropriate ways to serve the University and greater Omaha community and their Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersexed, Questioning, Allied, and Heterosexual populations.
