Services Offered
The University of Nebraska Student Agency of Gender & Sexual Orientation offers diverse print and electronic informational resources, specialized student services, and additional programming related to the appreciation of and advocacy for equality, specifically focusing its efforts on behalf of the university and greater community Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgendered, Intersexed, and Questioning individuals.
Completely Anonymous/Confidential Policy
A client or visitor’s name, contact information, sexual orientation or gender identity/expression, or services rendered [if so known] will not be released without the expressed written consent of the individual. However, the agency Director reserves the right to breach this policy if an individual poses a threat to oneself or others.
Informational Library
Pending the completion of all orders, a number of pamphlets and literary resources related to the process of coming out, health & safety precautions, etc. will be made available for interested parties to obtain.
Personal Advocate
All members of the student, faculty, and staff bodies, as well as visitors and agents of the University of Nebraska at Omaha are entitled to protection under its anti-discrimination policy. As such, if any of the aforementioned feels as if they have been discriminated against on the basis of any of its protected classes, this agency will assist an individual in filing such a claim, if so desired. The agency is also committed to assisting in related resources (medical, mental health, and legal referrals, etc.), as requested.
GSO Assist
GSO Assist: Should a LGBTIQ member of the University of Nebraska at Omaha community wish to seek psychological, physical health, or legal assistance regarding a matter involving their sexual orientation, gender identity and/or expression, or partner, an agency representative may assist interested parties through any of the following methods, as requested.
Scholarships Assistance
The agency will provide a list of resources which award scholarships on the basis of LGBT status or support for LGBT concerns.
